Published mineralization rate constants rise from around 0.0029 per day at 10°C to 0.078 per day at 30°C — roughly a twenty-seven-fold difference across that range. Cool soil both delays and reduces the nitrogen actually reaching the crop. Moisture matters too, since it redistributes organic material through the soil and brings it into contact with more microbes.
Keep in mind: the practical consequences are large. The bone meal trap: phosphorus from bone meal and rock phosphate becomes available only in acidic to neutral soil. Gardeners add it to bulbs and tomatoes for years without effect, and the fix is a soil test rather than a bigger dose.
